Avelo Airlines announces route cancelations to Fort Myers due to impacts of Hurricane Ian
“We will continue to monitor the rebuilding effort in Southwest Florida and look forward to establishing a base at RSW in the future and adding back the previously announced routes. In the meantime, we will reposition the aircraft that was going to be based at RSW to MCO, and it will be used to improve existing schedules as well as fund growth to additional new MCO markets.
“This event is outside of our control, but there is a lot we can control to help minimize the impact of external forces, including our operational performance, our Customer experience, our low-cost structure, our network, and our schedule.
“One of the fastest and most impactful levers we can pull to strengthen our performance is adjusting our network and capacity plan. We continuously monitor our plans to ensure we are maximizing our opportunities and adjust where needed.
“Avelo is always looking at new opportunities and cities to potentially add to LAN in the future. We are still working closely with our area partners and will continue to be involved in the community to strengthen awareness for future growth opportunities.”
Customers who have already booked a flight from LAN to RSW will receive a letter via email from Avelo Airlines with a full explanation of how to rebook and how to use their new airline credits. Refunds and Avelo Travel Funds (ATF) will be issued to the original form of payment two to three weeks after notification of cancelation.
