Capital Region International Airport and Apple Vacations Announce Extended Schedule of Nonstop Service to Popular International Destinations in 201

LANSING – Apple Vacations announced today that weekly nonstop service from Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, will continue in 2014.

Apple has decided to extend the winter schedule after concluding a successful vacation season of providing nonstop service to the popular destinations.

Beginning Jan. 24 and concluding April 21, 2014, nonstop flights from Lansing to Cancun will depart twice weekly – on Saturdays and Mondays – while nonstop flights will depart for Puerto Vallarta on Fridays and for Punta Cana on Sundays.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Apple Vacations back to Lansing,” said Robert F. Selig, executive director of the Capital Region International Airport Authority. “Apple has been a great partner, providing award-winning service to travelers across mid-Michigan flying nonstop from Lansing.

“Demand for travel to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Punta Cana was strong last year in part to the exceptional service and low fares offered by Apple. We’re excited to offer an extended schedule of services to these hot destinations in 2014 and look forward to working with Apple to attract more leisure travelers to fly for fun this winter. Flights fill up fast, so travelers should book today.”

Frontier Airlines will service Apple Vacations’ tropical destinations nonstop from Lansing. Fliers will travel onboard the airline’s A-319 aircraft, featuring 138 all-leather seats, first checked bag free and free DirecTV on all seat backs.

Additionally, when booking a vacation getaway during the Winter 2014 schedule, Lansing travelers may purchase Apple Vacations’ popular Preferred Perks Plus onboard service, available through seat selection. Preferred Perks PLUS features include:

• Stretch seating, which provides up to 5 inches of additional legroom in rows 1–4 of the aircraft
• Fresh meal/snack box and two standard alcoholic beverages per adult (21-plus) on each flight
• Access to the Preferred check-in security line (when available through the Transportation Security Administration)
• Separate priority check-in line at the ticket counter
• Preferred boarding – the first on and off the plane

“We think mid-Michigan residents will love the exceptional services and benefits of flying Frontier Airlines,” said Mark Noennig, vice president/general manager of Apple Vacations. “Plus, vacationers will love Apple Vacations’ popular Preferred Perks Plus onboard amenities.”
