Fly Lansing and help Michigan soar.
A Grounding Presence
Capital Region International Airport is more than just mid-Michigan’s gateway to the world – we’re an important asset to our community. We have an annual economic impact of $1 billion, and hundreds of thousands of travelers fly us each year. We also service thousands of tons of air cargo, and provide support for corporate and general aviation.
A Brief History
From 1929 until 1971, Capital Region International Airport was owned and operated by the state of Michigan and governed by the Michigan Aeronautics Commission. The Capital Region Airport Authority was created in 1970 pursuant to Act No. 73 of the Public Acts of Michigan. A regional authority was created in 1971, with the city of Lansing and Ingham County.
